PL’Secrets : Angliers, between castle and living memory

ANGLIERS On the Saturday 21 November 2026 15:00

A former stately home that is now the town hall, Château d’Angliers is at the heart of the village’s history. Built at the end of the XVIIᵉ century and recognisable by its dome topped by a campanile, it belonged in particular to Prince Henri de La Tour d’Auvergne Lauragais, who died there in 1871. A tour of the exterior will provide an opportunity to talk about the major stages in the building’s history and its key figures.
The walk will continue through the village to discover the church of Saint-Martin, the medieval origins of the village and the surprising links between Angliers and New France and Quebec.
René Girard, the former mayor of Angliers, and Nathalie Bassereau, the current mayor, will be offering a cross-section of local memory, history and anecdotes for a lively, hands-on look at Angliers’ heritage.
