PL’Secrets : Loudun to the sound of the bells
LOUDUN On the Saturday 26 September 2026 15:00Hosted by Vincent Aguillon, heritage coordinator, and co-commented on by Thierry Allard and Stéphanie Cadars, curators of Antiquities and Works of Art in the Vienne department, this unique tour will shed light on the role of bells, their symbolism, their uses and their place in the soundscape of the Loudunais region over the centuries.
The tour will start at the Sainte-Croix collegiate church, with a guided tour of the exhibition, before moving on to the Martray district to see the 1905 bell and its belfry.
The tour will end at the Musée Charbonneau-Lassay, where two bronze mortars from the former hospital in Loudun will be on display, both of which are protected historic monuments. This final stop will be commented on by Thierry Allard and Jean-Yves Chèvre-Baleige, head of Loudun’s museums.
