The call of the future at Futuroscope

It’s hard to start anywhere else than Futuroscope, the park that immediately sets the tone. Here, everything seems to be designed for fun together, from immersive attractions to shows that play with images, sound and imagination. If you’re coming as a family, you can be sure that the children will have made their list of “do you think we’ll be able to do that? The challenge will be to satisfy everyone. There’s no magic formula for achieving this. Our advice: follow your instincts. You move from one world to another, laugh, jump and end up debating as a family about “the best attraction of the day”. The park remains a great classic… because it works every time.

A step back in time to Poitiers

After this futuristic interlude, Poitiers gently brings its feet back to the ground with its rich and accessible heritage. In fact, the city still bears the imprint of Charles Martel, a major figure in French history who is often mentioned on the itineraries and in the interpretation areas. Without turning the visit into a lecture, it adds a historical thread that the whole tribe will love to follow.

As you follow in the footsteps of Charles Martel, your steps are sure to lead you to the heart of the town centre, where thechurch of Notre-Dame-la-Grande stands. The building remains a must-see. Its Romanesque façade is an eye-catcher, its sculptures tell a thousand details and the calm interior contrasts pleasantly with the bustle outside. It’s the kind of place where you stop, look and share a story with your children. Poitiers is full of these heritage scenes, which can be experienced without protocol, simply as you stroll along.
