Designations
The appellations of the Pays Loudunais are the ambassadors of a know-how that invites you to take the time to do things right (especially when it comes to wine). Between Poitou, Anjou and Touraine, the hillsides are home to discreet but proud vineyards , where Saumur AOP is grown with as much care as passion. The result? Wines with character, like the people who make them.
While you’re here, don’t hesitate to go and meet some of the local estates. They welcome visitors to talk to them. For them, it’s a question of sharing their work in the vineyard and offering a simple tasting experience. The winegrowers love to talk about their land, their grapes and the weather (because here, everything depends on the minute of sunshine!). It’s a unique experience, and you’ll often leave with a bottle (or two) with a story behind it.
As well as being a wine-growing region, the Pays Loudunais is also a gourmet region. The two go so well together! The markets are full of simple, tasty, home-made products, often sold by those who picked them that very morning. Cheeses, fruit, honey, old-fashioned vegetables… everything you need to accompany a well-chosen glass of wine.
What we love here is sincerity. With us, there’s no need to go overboard. Just the pleasure of tasting and sharing. We chat around the table, toast the good times and savour the moment.
So if you’re looking for a place where you can enjoy wine in a simple, friendly way, the Pays Loudunais should quickly become your new favourite appellation .
