PL’Secrets: Discovering our industrial heritage – Lime kilns

As part of a PL’Secrets tour, discover two former lime kilns for roof tiles and bricks, located in Les Chauleries and Renoué, evidence of a craft activity that has now disappeared but is essential to the history of the area.
This visit will enable you to explore the last 2 traditional kilns in the Nord-Vienne region, which will be exceptionally open to the public on this day, and to understand the role of lime kilns in the production of materials essential to construction and agriculture.
The discovery will be guided by :
– Vincent Aguillon, heritage coordinator,
– Jacques Albert, researcher from Loudun and son of one of the last trawlers in the Nord-Vienne region,
– François Peyrat, specialist in clay and its crafts.
